This article aims to examine the question of affectivity in the French artistic discourse from the early 18th century, to the example of the Réfl exions Critiques (1719) of Du Bos. It is through the relationship of aff ectivity to the notion of aesthetic feeling that we aim to demonstrate the relevance of an emotional vocabulary in this speech. The examination of the question of aff ectivity is also supposed to attest to the fact that at the time of the Enlightenment, the aesthetic thought is strictly connected to the thought about language.
